Manganui Milers beat Hora Hora 14-10 in the division one final. The women's title went to Hora Hora 38-24 over United Kawakawa. North Harbour Takapuna took out the 2002 North Harbour championship when it built on a 6-0 halftime lead with two second half tries to shut out North Shore 20-0. In the premier plate final Marist beat Silverdale 20-19. The Premier Bowl went to Glenfield which downed Mahurangi 43-12. The senior first division final went to North Shore 15-12 over East Coast Bays. Northcote won the under 21 title and Marist the under 19s. Auckland Ponsonby claimed the Gallaher Shield beating Waitemata 34-28. Counties-Manukau Ardmore Marist retained the Counties championship with a 41-19 victory, five tries to two, over Pukekohe. Waikato Hamilton Marist won the Waikato Breweries Shield final 15-11 over University. Thames Valley Thames claimed the Valley senior title with a 23-13 success against defending champions Paeroa West. Bay of Plenty Whakarewarewa won the Baywide premier division one final 22-14 against fellow Rotorua club Rotoiti. King Country Taupo Sports won the King Country division one championship final against Waitete. East Coast Tokararangi won the Colbert Shield championship final with a 20-15 win over Waiapu. Poverty Bay Old Boys Marist won the championship for the third straight year when it beat YMP 36-27. Hawkes Bay Napier Old Boys Marist took out the Hawke's Bay championship for the second succesive year beating Taradale 24-11. Taranaki New Plymouth Old Boys beat defending titleholder Tukapa 36-8 in the final. Wanganui Defending champion Ratana held on to its title with a 25-18 victory over Kaierau in the final. Manawatu Country club Te Kawau beat Marist 16-11 after a tense championship final. Wairarapa Bush Marist beat Eketahuna 34-27 in the Wairarapa-Bush final. Horowhenua-Kapiti Waikanae won the championship final 13-11 against Toa. Wellington Marist-StPat's beat Old Boys University 18-13 in the Jubilee Cup final. Marlborough Harlequins held off a strong Central comeback to win the premier championship final 25-18. Nelson Bays Waimea Old Boys got up in overtime to beat Nelson 32-24. West Coast-Buller White Star Old Boys downed Ngakawau-Karamea 32-5 in the senior championship final. Canterbury High School Old Boys took out the Telecom Trophy final in Christchurch when it beat Marist Albion 28-17. North Canterbury Glenmark beat Belfast in the grand final. Mid Canterbury Pacesetter Southern was tipped up 19-7 by Collegiate in the final of the Mid Canterbury senior competition. South Canterbury Harlequins became the South Canterbury champions after beating Temuka 26-16. North Otago Old Boys took the major prize 39-28 after a thrilling final against Athletic. Otago A 50 year wait for Pirates ended when the club won the senior championship for the first time since the early 1950s by beating Harbour 22-15 at Carisbrook. Southland The 'Stars' shone brightly in Invercargill after they had pole-axed Woodlands 54-10 in the Galbraith Shield final. |
